Power Distribution Board Burned

Thanks for all the past help here. Now I have an issue which I am advised is very serious and dangerous.

Although I have had this coach for 3 months now I have yet to be able to take any trips. Now the problem seems pretty serious and dangerous. My Generac (SP?) 7000 generator would not start (Diesel). Having the mechanic check it out reveled no power coming into the generator solenoids to start it. They then turned to the 12v Distribution Panel in the far back passenger bay and upon removing the panel cover discovered a burned (like an arc burn) the size of a half dollar in the extreme upper right corner.

Took it to Camping World and they confirmed the board was shot and further indicated it was dangerous and could result in a fire. It is sitting at Camping World while they try to either locate another good board or determine if the bad board can be replaced with another manufacturer's board. The one in my coach is a Power Tec. .

Can anybody please guide me to a source or a replacement board?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I don't really know exactly what you're looking for but this place is parting out a newer version of your RV. Maybe they could help you. Of course if you have pictures and part numbers someone here might be able to help as well

RV Custom Products, 14000 Anson Ave, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670, (562) 921-8353) Is one of the original suppliers of this board and they are used in 1000's of National MH, including mine, .....and they are still in business. Phone them and see if they can supply a board that will directly replace the one you have. But, BEFORE you replace your board, you must find what caused your board to burn and get that fixed.......otherwise.....well you know what will happen. Rook

Contact CampingWorld and get the Model number, serial number and part number of the board.
Generac Parts

LOOK WHAT I FOUND IN YOUR YELLOW PAGES. I'd strongly reconsider having a GENERAC specialist doing the work other than CW.http://www.yellowpages.com/nationwid...=1000266531353

I'm not sure the OP actually said he has a problem with the generator. I think it was dead because it wasn't getting battery voltage

Distribution Board

Thanks everybody. Called the contact Rook posted - they have in stock and will get an email and call from then on Monday with what to check for the problem that caused the board to burn.

Generator started with a jump box and produces power fine so the genset is not the problem - it is the board damage which also burned the solder trace involved. All indications it was a loose connection that was messed with by the dealer's "tech" probably without disconnecting the ground first.

This is a great forum - so good to know I am not sitting here all alone on these issues.

Thanks Again ALL

Found the problem

All the cable connections on the back of the board were burned and board had melted areas. I have a 100 amp breaker mounted on the front side wall and it had been jumped from the hot lug on the board to the breaker with about a 10 gauge wire, which burned up. My Generac Diesel generator draws 70 amps when being cranked and the jumper wire was too small.

The new board was installed and a regular battery cable was used to connect to the 100 amp separate breaker for the generator. The Tech at CW said because of the age of the generator it takes a lot of amps to start it. He said it has a pre heat switch on the generator itself but not on the dash. So he recommended pressing the pre heat outside for about 30 seconds before cranking the generator.

Does this sound right?
