Quick question on cruise control

I have been having trouble with my cruise since I got my MH, sometimes disengages on bad bumps, sometimes for no apparent reason. This past weekend trip though, it worked pretty much all the time, it did disengage once on bump, but was able to engage again without issue. Other trips it would not re-engage for hours at times, even if I turned off and on repeatedly.

Did, however notice that it seemed to dis-engage when I turned on the wiper/washers. Coincidence? Is there a link to keep from using cruise in the rain? Did not re-attempt as I did not want to jinx my working cruise, and did not encounter rain on trip.

Had bumpy roads cause CC to disengage until I re adjusted the brake light switch. Check brake pedal for easy return to its stop. If not returning easily check for need to lubricate brake pedal bell crank linkage.

Don't do much rainy weather driving and can't recall if there is any interaction.

If you have any lights, brake, turn or clearance that are flickering or work sometimes and sometimes not, that is your problem. Your are loosing a ground and the cruise control will disengage because it thinks you are applying the brakes. Try the grounds on the brake lights first. Had this problem before.

It actually sounds as if you may have either a loose wire in the switch stem or the column and it's causing either a wire to disconnect or mebbee to short out.
I had a girlfriend whose daughter had a super beetle that had a worn plate where the turn signal and the wiper switch fastened together in the column and if you operated both at the same time you could burn out the wiper motor. That happened three times before I figgered it out. Well actually it was the VW tech the third time after I told him what happened. Lordy, but I hated that car.
