Radiator fans not working 05 dolphin

Today I noticed the coolant temp slightly high and on checking discovered the fans were not working. I tried the aircond and defrost postion no luck. I ran direct 12 volts to both fans and fans ran normal. Not sure how to trouble shoot checked all fuses and tempted to run it manually thru a 30 amp breaker switch when needed. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the temp. sending unit for the fans has gone defective or the connection to it has come off. You have two temp. sending units, the other for the temp. gauge in the dash. Both would be located near the front of the engine. Disconnect one of the two and check to see if the temp. gauge is still reading a temp. and if not, it would be the other sender. To check the sender, simply run a ground wire to the wire connection and if the fans come on, the relay is ok and replace the sending unit. If the fans do not come on, then check and replace the relay. If you want to add a manual fan switch so you can turn it on when you want, simply install a switch in the dash and run a wire to the sending unit wire for the fans and the other wire to ground.

Underhood fuse and relay panel you should find relays for both fans. As they do not work with ac on its not a temp sensor problem. Check your relays for power.

i seen this on thinking it was a dolphin but i think i am wrong

but one thing to look at .. on the driver side they some times had the wring and the relay upside down taped to the wiring next to the fans them self
this would let water in but i really think i am wrong on this

but i am thinking the dolphin was the 454 and 8.1l setup
if it was it has the 5k and 1MB ECM that runs the fans them self off motor temp
and where the dash AC is set

if it is there well be 2 wires out of the ECM to 2 relays one for each fan

i think i have the info to look that up and tell you what wires if you need that latter so make sure the ECM is telling them to come on
