Radio reset code

I have a 2006 Tropical XL. Changed out the batteries and the radio stopped working. Panel says "code". I've looked every where for a code and I do not have the Audiovox reset code in my owners book. Any idea's?

Code is generally supplied to the original owner on a card about the size of a credit card. There are on line after market people who will supply you with the code for a "fee", generally about $20 to $30 . . . . which really makes you wonder exactly how much of a deterrent the code is if you can buy them on line . . . Or you can go back to the original manufacturer and try to convince them to give it to you. Honda was NOT forth coming for us when I replaced the battery in ours, so I had to pay the on line scalpers in order to use my radio after changing the battery . . .

I had that trouble with a Blaupunkt radio in a BMW, the guy I got it from gave me what he thought was the code but it didn't work. After 2 weeks of crap including faxing a copy of the title to prove ownership, they still refused to give me the code. I finally got a human in tech support (after hours on hold) who had the code but could not give it to me, I told him the code I had been given by the previous owner and he said that was not correct, but if he was me he would flip the second and third numbers, I did and it work. I don't know if I would have gotten it if I didn't have the correct numbers just not in the right order.

To help others not have this problem, they make an adapter that goes into the cigarette lighter hole and has a connection on the other end for a 9VDC battery. Install the 9VDC battery and plug it into the cigarette lighter and it will save all your radio codes and pre-set stations when you disconnect the batteries. It's sold at most auto parts stores for a couple of bucks.

There is no reset over ride code that I am aware of but the factory if
you jump through all their hoops can get it going again.
