For all of your National owners with a rear DP, have you had an occasion to open the access panels in the bedroom floor? My 2005 Tropi-Cal LX has one in front of the closet and one under the corner of the bed. The closet panel is easy enough to open. But I can't, figure out how to get the panel under the corner of the bed open. Has anyone tried this with any success? If so, I'd like to hear how you did it. Thanks.

Rob

Rob, took mine out the other day, it took about an hour. You will note the floor has two screw latches like the rear pannel. the bottom of the bed above the floor pannel has six to eight screws (inside the frame) holding it in place, once the six screws are removed the corner will be able to lift it up approx one inch alowing the corner to be removed out the bottom. The corner is not connected to the bottom of the bed frame there is a 1 to 2 inch gap at the top. I removed it to see how CAT could adjust the valves.

No wonder the shops charge so much for a valve adjustment.

Thanks. Sounds like a real PITA! Unfortunately, this is my first DP, so I was not necessarily in tune with the serviceability issue on these rigs.

By the way Harry, is it possible to adjust the valves through that panel?

Rob, with both panels off I'm sure they can remove the valve cover to adjust the valves. Cat estimated be around $450.00 to adust the valves, the first question they asked was what make of coach. I'm not getting mine adjusted till around 40k miles so no big deal. I hate to pay that kind of money out but if I want Cat to take care of me I better take care of them.
