cable wire
We have a 97 Dolphin mh and trying to hook up sat for our Direct tv. The tech was out here working on a house problem so I ask him it he could help us out. He did a great job, but he ran from the dish through the door. I was trying to run from cable hook up in waterbay and connecting to the wingard outlet plate in the cabinet next to tv. I didnt work for him so he ran from outside through door and worked. He said the was a problem with this installed in roof cable? But the tv works fine at camp when hooked up to their cable., Should I try to run a new cable up in the roof like the original, or just a new one through the window and forget it?

Roof cable wire
Does anyone know where the cable wire on a 97 Dolphin is run through the ceiling. I think I have a problem and may need to feed a new wire from the wet bay to the cabinet next to the tv? Thanks for any info

Are you sure the cable wire runs inside the roof? I've seen cable wire run inside a chase in the floor or frame up to the front of the coach, then up one of the windshield posts.

The wires on my 03 Dolphin chase on either side of the windshield. I'm not sure of your 97 layout but this might be a hint. Start at the terminus of the wire which is probably your selector for cable antennea rear TV etc; and work backward a ways and you should get your answer.

Did you turn the booster off when it's off it will let the signal pass through. or better yet just run a new cable from the WB to the cabinet and put it on a seperate plate

If it is possible to use the old cable as a fish tape for the new one I guess I would try that. But that is unlikely because it may be wrapped in a number of places to keep it in place.
As I said in your other post my cables on my 03 go through the basement for the most part and chase on either side of the windshield to get to the component cabinet. The molding on either side of the windshiedl has screws and when you remove them then you can lift them out and away and see your cable bundle (if your older Dolphinis wired the same way).

The direct tv guy set up dish on tripod and got it working by running cable in window but couldn't get it to work by connecting to cable hookup. In wet bay

In the past I had a problem with cable TV coming in clear. There was a lot of snow. After a lot of trouble shooting I found the problem to be a corroded coax connection in the wheel well where the coax comes through to the web bay. The male end of the coax is in the wet bay and the coax is routed through the wheel well and up into the coach. Through the years water had gotten into the connection. I cleaned up the connection and solved my problem. I will be adding a satellite to my coach and it appears you have to have a direct line from the satellite antenna to the satellite receiver. It can't go through you A/V distribution box before the receiver.

Another reason the original cable may not be working is because its the wrong type cable....it has to be an RG6 coax to allow channel signals from the dish to the receiver as as we'll as voltage from the receiver to the dish to power the horn....older RV's are famous for this...it does matter for a cable TV hookup because the signal is only one way...I had the same tuning happen to me in my first 5'er...ran another cable for DirecTV and added a splinter so I could use either when camping....as you know, the trick is finding a place to run it.....

Right on the RG-6 and the stright shot but you can run through the selector box after the sat box the wire that goes to the TV from the sat box to the connection labled sat on the selector box then you can watch sat TV from both TV but on one channel only

If your cable TV works then there is nothing wrong with the cable. What you need to do is bypass the wingard outlet plate. This contains a circuit that will not allow your satellite system to work through it. I dealt with the same problem years ago. Alvin
