Got up on roof today of our 97 Dolphin and tryed to clean spots on roof, didn't work. Even tryed some whitwall cleaner, didn't work. There is so many black spots I thought maybe it was supposed to be like that, but after checking under some of the roof vents it is plain white. My question is this mean the rubber roof is going bad. We keep it inside but suspect the other owner left it out. To day I cleaned it and used a conditioner and uv protect. I have seen some roof coatings that can be applied with a roller, but haven't done much research yet, but suspect all the uv protectant would have to be stripped before the roof coat is applied. Any one have any experience with this problem? Thanks for any info.

A few black spots (most likely mold) will not hurt the performance of the roof. Read about the maintenance in your owners manual. Most do not require any treatment other than washing occasionally.

All of the roof treatments put money in the pockets of the sellers and might make you feel good.

Sounds like the EPDM roof is down to the undercoating and this is normal for a 14 year old RV. If you do have any leaks, I like Eternabond tape to get things water tight. Then once all is water tight, I like the Liquid Roof product. Research this site for EPDM and Liquid Roof and see what you come up with.
