On a 2000 Tropical 6373, does any one know the procedure from sanitazing the fresh water tank. I can't seem to totally empty the tank and not sure how to get the bleach into the tank.
Can I suck it in through the pump?
On the 99 Dolphin OM, they mention a cap on the tank. Does the Tropical have a cap? I can't seem to find one and it is enclosed in a metal box.

Thanks
Carl

Yes, you can usually draw water in thru the pump. I don't think you want to use straight bleach though, put some in bucket, fill with water, draw it in, re-fill and draw again. I have a big tank and will put about 2-3 cups of bleach in water, then draw it in. Fill the tank with water then let all faucetts run until you smell the bleach then shut them off and let stand for a day or so. Make sure you get water from EACH faucett. Then drain and re-fill and drain and Re-fill and drain. You might have to do this a couple times. Al.

I have a wholes house filter on our Dolphin. I remove the filter element and pour about a cup of bleach in it and screw it back on to the housing. Fill the fresh water tank. Run each faucet until you smell bleach, starting from the furthest away from the pump. Drain the tank and fill with fresh water. Repeat running the faucets. Drain and fill again. Done.

Depending on the size tank you have Rick, a cup of bleach may not be enough. It also needs to set for a few hours so don't be too hasty in draining the tank.

pour bleach in hose, connect hose to motorhome, turn on the water pressure and let it push the bleach into the tank

Thanks for that. I get plenty o bleach oder and yes, I do let the tank sit a while befor emptying. In 3 years I've done this 2 times. Both time it rid the water of the foul smell and what comes with not using the tank water often enough. We don't dry camp often. We now make sure to use the tank water at least once a week and re-fill regularly.
Cheers
