Servicing air dryer system
Does anyone know anything about removing and/or cleaning an air dryer system? Is it a spin-on filter?
Thank you

What is the name of your dryer? Right about the time your coach was made, the air dryer models changed. I have changed the Purest and the Pure Air ones.
One is a spin on and the other is a hold down type. One Pure Air you need to buy/or make a large filter wrench to unscrew the filter, but the Purest you just unscrew a few bolts and it lifts off.
On my coach I had to completely remove the dryer then change the internal parts because there just wasn't good working room.

If you do have the spin on filter, then a quality strap or chain wrench should allow you to remove the filter. If memory serves me correctly, you get several parts in the kit. It's not hard to do. Just remember cleanliness is very important. Internal dirt and diesels don't mix. That's another reason I removed the whole thing and then refurbished the Pure Air Plus on my workbench. I bought the kit from NAPA Auto Parts.

Have a 2001 Tradewinds 39, Freightliner XC CAT 330
how did you make sure the system was completely discharged? I can't find a lanyard on the wet tank, or can u isolate the dryer by closing off valves and just bleeding the unit?
any input would be helpful Thanks

The dryer discharges every time it purges. It holds no pressure after that.
You can just pump the brake pedal to exhaust the air from the system.

Like Twinboat said, I just pump the brake peddle till the gauges read zero.
