I have read lots of articles re: shear pin problems, but have not seen any that tell us that are not mechanically inclined where to look for the pin and/or how to go about replacing it. Can anyone guide me to a good source of information on this.

Thank you

I guess no one knows the answer or they don't want to offer any suggestions.

Pappaono if you look at you slide motor and can see the gears where they slide on the motor shaft. You will see what looks like a pugged hole that goes all the way through the gear and shaft. This is the shear pin or roll pin. This is what breaks. the way to fix it is to drive out the broken pin then line the holes in the gear and shaft back up and drive in a new pin that's it.
My motor drives both rail gears on my unit so the rod that connects these two gears also has a shear pin. If worried find out the size of the pins (the size was listed in my slide instructions) buy a few extras.

If you use this websites' Search feature, you will find a lot of information, including pictures, of problems caused by broken shear pins. It has happened to a lot of us Seabreeze owners, myself included.

Is this just a problem on SeaBreeze models?

I have a 2004 Dolphin model 5355 and have not had this happen, Yet.

If it effects all models, what is the size of the shear pin? I will put some in my extra parts stash.

thanks,

I'd recommend you become familiar with the layout of the bedroom slide control mechanism. How it works, and where trouble could happen. Going down the road and watching your bedroom slide come out is rather unnerving. It happened to me.

I have to agree with Mr. Davis. While on vacation this month my bedroom slide came out 3 times. It only goes out about 2 or 3 inches but it really makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck. They have been working on a new motor for the bedroom slide since June. They've replaced 2 new motors and right now have the old motor back in the room. The slide goes out and in twice as fast as before and I think that is the problem. The old motor is a Von Weise???? Don't know what the new motor is but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that soon the problems will be solved.

Dolph; Thank you for the web site; it was the information I was looking for. It makes it a lot easier to understand when someone points you in the right direction rather than just telling you to search until you find it.

Thank you once again for your assistance.
