I have a 2005 Dolphin LX that came with a 30ft 50amp power cord.
The cord is very heavy and very stiff. I would like to get a shorter
And more flexible cord.
The large yellow plug that plugs into the motorhome has a pin in the center
Of it.
My problem is the owners manual says you must use a plug with the pin
And all the cords and adapters that I find do not have the pin.
Can you use a plug without the pin? Where can I get one with the pin?

How many connectors are on the cord? What is the center pin connected to?

Does your plug connect inside a compartment, or on the outside wall of your coach? If it is on the outside, does it have a locking ring?

I recently hired a certified RV electrician to remove the side wall connection, and to relocate the plug into the electrical compartment, with a Progressive Industries EMS. Let me know if you have any questions. I HATED the outside plug!

It plugs into the outside of the motor home and has a locking ring.
The metal pin is in the center of the plug and goes into a hole
In the receptial on the motorhome. There is three post that it plugs into.

Yes I looked at it and it looks like it will work. it does not have a locking
Ring but I don' t think that is a problem. Thanks

Do a google search for a 50-amp plug and cord with a center pin. I purchased several from Amazon this summer, had to return one since the locking ring had larger threads than the OEM on my Dolphin. Also, the center pin plugs have a tendency to untwist if using an elbow or other item used to reduce the stress of the power cord tension as it bends from the receptacle towards the ground. I would be happy to ask my RV electrician any questions for you if needed. Good luck! Bruce

Never seen a Marinco type connector like you describe.

However have you considered this solution

You will need,
Hacksaw
knife
Screwdriver

Male and female 50 amp cord ends (like on an extension cord)

Step one: UNPLUG this is very important

Now about 2 - 3 feet from the motor home end of the cable,, Apply hacksaw to 50 amp cord and cut it clean through.

Using knife dress the wires (Expose as per instructions that come with plug) on the short (motor home) part and apply standard 50 amp RV PLUG. (using screwdriver) tighten WELL, tighten TIGHTER, and seal.

On the long end, same procedure only apply the outlet.

now you can use any cord you like,, Just get a SUPER FLEX type extension cord.. USe your original as an extension cord when you need it.

Not sure if this will work for him, wa8yxm. If his external 50-amp plug receptacle is like the one on my National, he will require the plug with the center pin, along with a locking ring. I am in the process of relocating the receptacle from the outside wall, to the electrical compartment to eliminate this PITA situation. Make sense?

No problem! I am waiting on all of the parts before starting this project. Feel free to PM me if you have any further questions. I will end up with a locked door covering the outside receptacle, and a Progressive Industries EMS (easily removable) inside the electrical compartment, where the new 50-amp plug will be located.

I relocated the shore power connector on our Tropical. Never liked having the cord plugged in the side of the coach. Found the receptacle on Ebay.
Also added a surge protector in the compartment.

Looks great! I will post pics when we are done relocating ours, just waiting on a few more parts. BTW, what did you do with the original plug and cover on the exterior?

I have the same RV and wanted the shorter cord for the same reasons. Checked on buying a shorter cord then decided to have mine cut in half. Bought the male and female 50 amp ends at an RV show then had an electrician friend cut and install the new ends. I've never needed the second 15 foot 50 amp cord.
