Joe, sorry you're having so many problems. I finally fix my 12x3 ft slide from scratching the floor. I elimiated using the nylon skids.
This is what I did. I had some 1/4 in oak left over from another project. I cut 6 pieces 1 x 6 inches. DW gave me an old cotton rug about 3/8 thick which I cut the size of the wood pieces. (Could have use carpet).
I used gorilla glue to attach to the wood and let them cure. Then used a crowbar to lift leading edge of the slide, put glue on my new skids and lowered the slide down. Did this with the others equally distributed along the slide..... let it cure overnight.
Since doing this, we've had the slide in/out at least 10 times and no evidence of scratching. My floor is vinyl (Allure) and much softer than laminates.
The key is of course using a soft non-scratching skid. However, equally important is using more surface area on the skid. This reduces PSI by distributing the weight over a larger area. My 5 original skids were only 3 x 1/4 inches. So I have reduced PSI 10 fold. I'm also prepared to ad more if it becomes necessary, but I'm sure I'm out of the woods.
The only precaution we take is to be sure the floor is clean and free of sand before bringing it in.
