Solar charging light

On bright sunny days, the solar charging indicator on my monitor panel is not illuminated. Am I correct to assume that it will be red when the solar panel is generating a charge? The panel is about 8"x12". Any suggestions are welcome.

Details of your RV would help folks to provide better answers.

With the small size of it and the monitor, that would have been factory installed. At it's present age, I would have to assume it's shot. The one on my Dolphin didn't last 10 years. But to answer your question, if all was working, the light would be lit.

These panels were basically junk by todays standards. They were also only 10-15w and were close to worthless to maintain batteries during storage, depening on the part of the country you lived. I replaced mine with a new 25w and it's worthless here in Mi for my needs. If I had to do it over, I wouldn't have replaced it all or, I would have put in at least 200w. The reason for that is we like to boondock.

However, if you store outside without shore power and don't like to remove batteries, replacing it with something a bit larger would be a good idea.

Thanks for the reply. As of now we will leave it as it is, but will look into replacement this winter once we get down in the warmer areas.
