I have a Seabreeze Lx 2007 on the Ford platform. Great coach.I bought it in August 2007 just before National went chapter 11. Have had to have the storage bay doors rubber seals fixed twice to rectify water entry. Hoping its finally been done right. Dealer covered it. They said it was a common problem on the Seabreeze and was more difficult to fix than their other models. Any truth to this?

You know, I have two cargo bays that get wet when I drive in the rain but not when it's parked. I never even considered that it might be the rubber seals. I have been going crazy trying to find a way that the water might be getting in. This makes sense to me. After this snow stops, I'm going to see if that's a plausible explanation. Thanks for pointing me in a new direction!

I know this doesn't help, however all three of our Dolphins had compartment leaks when driven in the rain. I have given-up, store things in plactic tubs, and just let the rugs dry out when we stop.

I solved the leaking by adjusting the locks. An allen wrench and a little patience adjusting the locks.Tha connecting bays were easier, latch the door and look from the connecting compartment to see if light came in.By slowly moving latch in till no light showed .With the other compartments be sure your wife isn't mad at you and have her close door while you are inside .See if it is tight and adjust.

On my unit I found leakage also occurred in compartments that had a bulkhead adjacent to a wheel well. Especially if there were wire looms or gas pipe passages thru them. I have used a black poly urethane roof sealant from HD to seal these weather exposed areas. The sealant adheres very well and cures after several days. Using a latex gloved hand to work the sealant in helped get to difficult corners.

One other place in my storage compartment that was a definite source of leakage during wet driving conditions was the absence of fully welded seam of the framing that supported the rubber seal attachments. This was at the bottom edge of the hatch opening and below the rubber seal so water could be sprayed into that space while driving.

Nowhere does it say the compartment doors are waterproof.

To the contrary, NRV does state that the exterior compartments "are not" 100 percent water tight and recommends articles susceptible to moisture damage to be stored inside the vehicle.

This printed in the the NRV owners manual in the chapter on "Exterior components/Exterior component care".

I also solved my basement leak problem by roof sealant in the wheel wells. Do a search for basement leaks, etc. Lots of problems in this area.

M & EM: Thanks for helping me make my point.

"are not 100% water tight...."

I guess that might mean "nowhere does it say the compartment doors are waterproof" ?

Thanks for the repies. My doors are now watertight. I was surprised to see some posts about National not guaranteeing this. My compartments are covered with what appears to be indoor/outdoor carpeting and I was concerned it would get mildew or mold. Replacing the rubber gasket seal and adjusting the locks did the trick. The teck told me the gasket was tricky to install and mine had slight gaps between pieces.

Glad your problem was fixed. Rubber gaskets...maybe on the 2007s but not on the 2001s. Factory installed carpets in the storage compartments? None on mine....again...you have a 2007,I have a 2001. And back then, plainly stated in the manuals, water proofing of the storage areas is not guaranteed, in the cards, or whatever. My problem here is so slight, (if I even have one), It's not noticable...but then, most of our stuff is organized in large Tupperware bins anyway.
Good luck!

Glad to hear your problem was solved. I noticed on my 05 DolphinLX that there is a gap between the storage door and the seal that is just a function of the construction. My compartments were getting wet, so I went to Home Depot and put thick weather stripping on the compartment door to seal off the space. It seems to fill the gap, but have not tested it in the rain. I will advise.
