Surf Side 29a towing capabilities??

Thinking about purchasing a new to me 2007 Surf Side 29a. Have read that the towing capacity is 5000 lbs and wondering if anyone has used theirs to tow more than that. Wanting to be able to tow anywhere from 4000 to possibly 8000 lbs. Also wondering about the tongue weight of 500 lbs. Anyone ever use an equalizer hitch to offset heavier tongue weights?

I am used to towing with a Dodge dually and not having to worry about these weight issues and trying to make sure the motorhome will be able to tow what I need it to tow.

I don't have a 29A or any MH but ratings are ratings.,,,,be they RVs or Equipment used at/in job or tools in garage.

DS29A
GVWR ------- 18,000#
GCVWR ----- 23,000#
FAWR ------- 7,000#
RAWR ------ 11,000#

GCVWR-GVWR=5000#

RAWR of 11,000# will be limiting factor

One either uses/stays within MFG ratings
OR doesn't know about them, ignores them, justifies not staying within them

As with life....personal choice/accept consequences

Stay safe....enjoy
