Surfside questions

We just became full-timers and have two question for Surfside owners with more experience.

First, does the vehicle come equipped with a battery isolator so both house and chasis batteries charge from the alternator but using the house batteries cannot deplete the chasis battery?

Second, has anyone added a pressure accumulator to the house waterpump? Our pump seems to run a lot when we are in the boonies.

Thanks.

Yes to your first question.

My paper work for the water pump says not to install a accumulator.

Is the pump cycling while in use? If so, you need to remove the flow restrictors within the faucet aerators. The pump output most likely exceeds the city water flow, so it showes up when you are drawing for your water tank.

Richard / Fred -

Thanks for the responses. The problem is low water flow after a few seconds and the pump running for 15-20 seconds after we close the tap. Pump doesn't seem to maintain flow and that is why I thought an accumulator would help. Flow is way below what we had on our boat a couple of years ago...

You might want to remove your water service panel and check the filter on the pump, also look for crimped hoses. I had a new 2001 Surfside and the pump was bad from the factory.

I agree with Richard, if the pump is running after the faucet is closed it indicates the pump is not building-up sufficient pressure to shut it off.
