Can any one tell me if a 50 amp surge guard will protect the RV if you are plugged into 30 amp service?

Ricko - how do you get a 50 amp surge protector to plug into a 30 amp outlet?

A "dog bone" adapter is required... same as if no surge protector is used.
Camco 55185 Power Grip Dog Bone Electric Adapter 30amp m/50amp#

Good luck...

So basically, we can put the surge guard between the pigtail we currently use and our 50 amp power cord?

Mine is hard wired into the coach but I do believe you are correct. Just figure out a way to keep it from growing legs and walking off.

We pigtail 30 amp power to the 50 amp surge protector and have the 50 amd power cord from the RV pluged into the surge protector. We only do this in spring and fall when we will only need one AC unit because two would overload 30 amp service with the other electric appliances we use. In the summer we will only stay where we have access to 50 amn service.

I have my 50 amp surge protector on a 30 amp service with an 50a / 30a adapter from CW.
