Welcome to IRV2. Most non body parts are the same components as most other motor homes so that shouldn't be a problem. Monaco has acquired some molds and the like from NRV and have indicated that parts would be available from them. If you do some reading in this forum and then over at the Yahoo Group forum for National owners you'll find a wealth of info that might help you make a smart buying decision. We've had ours for over two years and are very happy with it. It will help if you can fix minor issues on your own, as I have learned to do.

I have an 07 Surfside and I love it! Other then the little problems we had when we took it off the lot, we have been trouble free! I wouldn't worry too much about parts, because any body shop can probably fix whatever problems you have and everything else is standard motor home stuff! We feel that the Surfside gives you a lot of coach for the money and we certainly enjoy our National!

It makes me wonder how well Monaco will support National with their shutting down in Elkhart. By cutting back service facilities by 1/3 I doubt they will have much time for the orphan.

As much as I love my Pacifica, I think I would look at current Brands.

kwilliams,
My 2 cents.... You didn't say what year model your Surfside is. We owned a 2000 34-ft. Sea View with 2 slides which we dearly loved. The only drawback was, it was on a Ford chassis and the early Ford V-10 didn't have much zip. But it always got us there and back and over any 10k foot mountains we wanted. It had a ton of storage space inside which my DW loved.

We sold the Sea View and purchased a 39 ft. 2001 Tradewinds because we wanted more space as well as a pusher as our plans are to go fulltime.

A few years ago, we toured National RVs factory in CA and were well satisfied how well they built their units. Better than most in that price range.

Most important, if the floor plan works for you and the price is right, I would highly recommend buying it. Sometimes National would use upgraded components in the Surfside that were leftover from their higher end models. As far as body parts, they are basically the same as the Dolphin.

Lots of luck,
Larry

Thanks for the help. This a left over new 2007 and the dealer is giving a 5yr 60k mile good sam warranty. I was just worried about part availability.

Like others have said, some of the specific National (mainly body parts) parts may be somewhat difficult to find. But in regards to any of the non-National parts (pretty much everything else), the specific manufacturer would be able to supply repair parts. If you purchase that coach, you should get a box with all warranty and operators manuals for pretty much everything on the coach.

And just who will support the coach when an electrical issue arises, where are those skimatics, and the plumbing, and so on.

Tagging onto Steve's comments, the Good Sam warranty will not be of any help on items that are not specifically writtem into the policy, read it carefully as nothing else will be covered, even if it seems logical.
