To all Forum members - warranty insurance

Can any of you give me input on which warranty insurance, that you like. Also the Road Assistance coverage is in the future for us, too.
My husband plans to retire, next year, so in about 5 or 6 mos. we will be making a used diesel Class A purchase, and we will be needing warranty and Road Assistance service....Your imput, please....

As mentioned, a SEARCH will give you lots of info. In fact, too much info. Anyway, for an Extended Service Contract, you should look for: Who is the underlying insurance company and how does Weiss Ratings like them....Who is the gatekeeper or administrator ? Perhaps if both were under one flag, it might be better. You don't want a parts named contract. You want an exclusionary contract. It has a short list of parts NOT covered....and everything else IS covered.

Consequential damage is a good option. Audio, video and hi-tech are options. Consider the highest level of coverage offered. You will be limited in repair $$ to the value of your MH at the time of claim.

Contract companies probably will not issue a program for MH over 13-14 years old. You might get a 7 year contract for $800 year. Look around. Some like Wholesale Warranty Co...We have US Warranty Corp in OH. GoodSam get mixed reviews, but I think you can go year-to-year.

I think I have left out some more pertinent info....others will fill in.

PAY for an RV Inspection PRIOR to purchasing ANY Used RV

CoachNet is tops for roadside assistance

Warranty...
After purchase are 'Service Contracts' vs a warranty
Lots of 'exclusions' otherwise HOW could a company pay out claims and stay in business......a very profitable business.

Start an 'emergency RV fund'....contribute to it routinely

Then go camping and enjoy!

FYI Road America Motor Club - - 24 Hour Roadside Assistance Program_- Viking

Hello to all....Just wanted to let you know what's going on with our recent older motor home purchase....We live in Northern Alabama and purchased a Class A MH from a RV Sales Company in Greenville, SC, (great person) RVMAX.US.
We were caught up in the severe snowstorm in that Southeast area... and had an air stem broke off tire by ice build up on the wheel.
The available assistance for any roadside help were all triaged to more important and in danger personnel (we were safe in a snow-closed MiniMart parking lot, with a tank of gas) We secured a local Snyder Tire Fleet Solution thru a mention by our RV sales owner....
And we were reimbursed the cost from the tire repair and tire change by the Road America Company...(Viking).

We paid around $4000 for our 5 year full coverage warranty. Thought it was a good idea with a 2002 motorhome. We never made a claim, had some minor problems that I fixed myself. Love my National Seabreeze!

Well, Scooter... You asked about the older motor home that we bought, It's a 1994 Fleetwood Southwind 35P, gas (Ford chassis). Remodeled interior..
My husband retires next year, and we want, at that time, or not long afterward, to get a 40' or 42' Diesel.....Of course, newer model.
Neither of us had ever owned a motor home before, so we wanted something older that we could learn on.........Yes, that's right....a "learner motor home", we felt that something simpler to cut our teeth on would be to our advantage, plus have some weekend fun, too....

OK, there will not be an extended service contract for your 1994 unit. Too old. When you get your newer diesel unit.....hopefully under 14 y/o......and if you want a service contract....expect to pay about $1000 a year for 5-7 years.

Yes, Scooter,

I know that I cannot get warranty, I have already talked to them.. That's why I only got the 24 hour Roadside Assistance, but am fully covered with Insurance, just could not get warranty...
Like you say, will be able to with next motor home, and that rate sounds very reasonable..
