Keep in mind that you will have zero factory support. Two big problems, (1) The unit has been sitting for some time, you can look for the NRV sticker that will give you the “Build Date” this is not good for any unit. (2) The unit has not got the “Bugs” worked out and very little technical info is available if something out of ordinary goes wrong. I am thinking mainly of wiring diagrams and plumbing schematics, along with parts suppliers.

This web site can provide some information on your unit.

National RV Archives

I was looking back through the Bankruptcy records I kept and ran across a document submitted by 10,000 RV’s in San Diego, Ca., in December of 2007. 10,000 RV’s was bidding for the inventory. I couldn’t find any 2007models, however there were several 2008 TropiCal 36C’s; the highest “Invoice” price was $143,915.00.

Hope this info will give you a starting price.

BTW 10,000 RV’s offered $115,132 for that unit. I don’t know what it actually went for, however I don’t think it was far off.

Fred

Just to add to Fred's reply, National made a great product and execpt for the fact they are out of business, I think most of us National owners would buy one again if they were still in business.

Rick, you are correct. We believe our coach is much better than most on the market today, and would surely buy again if the company was still in business.

I would buy an other as well. In three years we have had no down time. Only normal maintenance has been required.

We are on our third National coach and would have purchased another when the time came if National were still in business.

We love our 06 Dolphin which we bought as a left over, before NRV went under. Problems have been minimal but one with a coach that has sat like that figure your batteries will be weak at best. Ours will not sustain the coach anywhere near as long as they should. So battery replacement in a shorter time than you would expect. On the outside near the door there should be an RVIA sticker with the build date.
Also remember most of the components are covered by a seperate warrenty not the NRV and as long as the coach was never registered before your warrenty starts the day you take delivery.

We love our 08 and would buy one again if NRV was still in business. I have had no real problems with the coach body that NRV built. NOW, the appliances and chassis are another thing. Onan generator had a oil leak, the basement air motor mounts failed - was fixed- and is now in for a second service to fix the fan noise. The Dometic(made by LG) convection microwave died(and is now being replaced) and the front end alignment on my W24 was horrendous. The good part is that everything was covered under warranties.
Luckily nothing has gone wrong with the body.
But that being said, I would still buy a NRV again but by the time we decide to buy again, I think the whole industry will be different.
Good luck with the Topic Cal, I liked those coaches a lot.
