towing a jeep
i am thinking about purchasing a used jeep to pull behind my 32 foot
Seaview motorhome with the v-10 motor,
i was wondering how well the motorhome will pull the hills, grades, etc with
jeep in tow?
someone told me i will have to have an expensive Banks Turbo package
installed on the motorhome to be able to tow effectively and providing
enough power to pull the hills?
if i have to get this Banks system installed i probably wont buy the jeep as
the cost of the jeep and the banks system together would be pricey and
not very practical?? what are some other thoughts and advice for towing?
i think it would be nice to have a vehicle at the campground in case u
wanted to go to town for dinner or in case of an emergency or even just
to go to the store if u need groceries. thanks for any thoughts and advice.

Buy the Jeep.
do not need a banks kit. Not like you will go backwards, you won't win the race but you will get to your location.

What year coach? The V10 went through 3 stages with 06 being the current update with 3 valves per cylinder and the most power.
I have pulled my Ramcharger with our 06 35' Dolphin and as said above not going to win races but it will do it.
That said check loaded we ight of coach and the jeep. Ocasionaly being over gcwr probably not an issue but every time or a lot over will definitely impact durability and safety in an emergency.

Pulling Jeep
I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler 2-door with my 1999 Dolphin with the V-10. If it were not for my rear camera, I wouldn't even know it was back there. Plenty of power.
Buy the jeep. Happy Trails.

We had an '07 Tiffin on a Ford chassis, towed an '07 Jeep JK unlimited with no complaints.

We pull a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with our 2014 V10. I did install a 5Star Tune on it, but not because of towing the Jeep. I got rid of most of the screaming downshifts. As said above, you will not be setting any land speed records in the mountains, but you will make it up and back down ok.

Seaview, I don't know the year V-10 you have, but I can tell you the newer V-10 will run 65 to 70 MPH all day long towing a 4500 lb load. You won't be first off the line from a stop, but you won't be the last to the top of the mountain either. Buy the Jeep if you like it!

Towing a Jeep. We used to have a 36 foot Georgetown XL with the Ford v10. As others have said you will not win a speed race, but it pulled out 4 door jeep just fine with the stock equipment. Gas mileage was around 5. You will never keep up with a DP. My cousin has the same jeep with his small 300 cummins and could out pull us any time. The issue is can you do it, YEP, you can, you just will be holding to the steering wheel pretty good. Buy the JEEP. We love ours and it is so easy to tow.

Be sure the Jeep you buy can be towed four down, most can be but some can't. Usually a four wheel drive with a high and low transfer case with a true neutral is required. My '97 GC with Quadra Trak was OK to tow,

Go with the Jeep won't really know it's there most of the time and you don't need any Banks or other turbo package. You really need a toad we wouldn't travel without one. One time before I got my tow bar we went on a out of state trip we ended up renting a car just to to sightseeing as sightseeing in a 35 foot RV isn't fun - no where to park and you're limited in where you can go.

We had 2002 38' coach with V10. Drug our 5000+ lb jeep up down and around the southwest and west for several years. Not a speed demon, but neither is our present DP dragging the same jeep. Both get/got the job done just fine. Buy the jeep. Don't modify the motorhome.
