Tradewinds Dash Air
98 Tradewinds dash air not working. Nothing happens when turning it on or varying the fan speed. Totally dead. Looked at all the wiring diagrams I have and found absolutely no reference to the dash air. Uncertain if it is a Freightliner install or a National install?
Does anyone have a wiring diagram that covers the dash air or know where a fuse (or fuses) might be located. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dash portion of the A/C would be a National install , Freightliner probably only mounted the compressor on the engine and maybe hoses along the frame .
Your dash system is probably Evans/Tempcon and although Evans supplied this schematic ( for all the good it does ) , where National mounted the fuse or circuit breaker for the system would be a question for someone who actually managed to find it.

two things where wrong on mine, the fan switch was bad and I had no vacuum pump power 12 volt. I had those fixed and it works fine now.

Check the fuse panel behind the map pocket beside the drivers seat. That has all the chassis fuses in it.

yes fuses next to the drivers seat, also use a volt meter or test light, unplug the fan motor and turn the switches on, see if the fan is getting power or NOT, you may have a bad fan motor, a bad switch, or a wire gremlin :-( good luck on your search. check to make sure that all the ground wires are hooked up there and nothing has a loose connection.

Before you spend a lot of money consider just running the generator, it should run both air conditioners and any other 110 you need . On my 1998 Tradewinds this was the best keeps front and back cool.

Thanks,
Checked all fuses both by the driver and in the rear, all OK. Checked the wires coming in to the AC panel (at the four pin connector which should be carrying the +12v from the fuse panel). No 12 v present. Somehow there must be a break in the wire. Now to trace the wire if possible (ugh!). First I think first I'll supply 12v directly to the switch and see if it works. If it does must mean there really is a cable problem.
Back to digging.
