Tradewinds or Tropical

Currently own a Dolphin 6320 LX, a very nice MH. Upgrading to a slightly newer, larger MH. Looked on internet at 2 different National models, a Tradewinds pusher and the Tropi Cal pusher. Info is limited on the net about the differences between the models. Both MHs have the Cummins 400 engine and the Allison 6 speed tranny. Both models have good floor plans. Which is the better coach? thanks for your help.

Much depends on the model year in question. Tradewinds were made in 3 versions - Tradewinds, Tradewinds LE, and Tradewinds LTC. Tropical models were made in 2 versions - Tropical and Tropical LX.

Too many differences to go into here including floor plans, engine, side vs rear radiator, 2 vs 3 slides, chassis on Tradewinds (Spartan, Freightliner, Country Coach), etc.

Specific year and model info would help.

Damion, We also are in Alaska with our Tradewinds. We are boondocking just outside of Homer for the next couple of days and then moving up to Anchorage for a couple of days.
As for the differences in the coaches, I would say that the interior is the only difference. Watch the radiator condition, as this is an expensive fix if there is an need to repair or replace on a pusher. I have had my Tradewinds now for three years and love it. I only have the 300 Cummins ISB in mine, but I still enjoy the 9 miles to the gallon, along with the comfort. If you have not had a diesel pusher in the past, the air brakes can be a little tough to get used to. Feel free to ask any other qeustions as we love to live in the RV now that we are retired.

Just did 9,300 miles in 50 days. Only issue was leaking clamp on heater hose splice, low water alarm. Great trip!

We are proud Tradewinds owners. 2006 40F, we have had it now for about 18 months and totally love it. Done some modifications to it, making it our own. We hope its our last coach!
