"TRANS" flashes on cluster when started

This is a good thing. What I don't know is.......what if I am merrily driving along and the TRANS light comes on. There is no info in W/H books, other than p.51 of W/H owner's manual: "If you have a P32 or diesel engine with an A/T, you may have this light on your instrument cluster. This light is for diagnostic purposes only"

We have a gas W22 with the Allison 1000. Think our cluster is 2002 as it does not look like the picture of the newer 2003 cluster with a message center. Don't know if ours is an Actia.

So...if it goes on whilst I am driving....does it mean hot transmission fluid or low fluid...or none of the above?

Does TRANS flash silently or will there be bells clanging or something?

Thanks

A 3>5 sec." bulb check " at engine start up would be normal. Constant illumination would indicate a problem. Bells and whistles, if any, would be installed by Workhorse.
I have info on the electronic control systems , for 3000 & 4000 series Allison transmissions, codes etc. But nothing for the 1000.
I'll poke around the Allison site, to see if I missed anything.

I talked to John at Allison. Said that if light goes on......it means.........something is amiss. Need a code reader to get specific. If fluid looks and smells OK; level is OK, keep driving. Probably no bells or buzzer....but WHorse would know.
