Transfer switch

Wondering how hard it is to add an automatic transfer switch? I have an '08 Tropical. sometimes pain in the butt to have to go outside to plug in shore cord to outlet, to have gen power to coach. thanks

If you have a protected space to install it, it's a matter of 9 wires (or 12 for 50 amp service) clamped into the box in their appropriate spots.

yes there is room for one, it's 50 amp. where would I buy the switch? Camping world?

I'd shop around other vendors. Try Amazon, then take the make and model number of a highly reviewed one and Google it. You may find it cheaper elsewhere.

I just did this on our motorhome a couple of months ago. I bought one off ebay. It is the same one camping world sells and was brand new and half price. It is an easy install good instruction with it. Works very well. Alvin

Yes It's really not that hard. It is wiring three sets of four wires, They should all be color coded. Alvin

dwarfracer1; Just read your post and if you're still shopping look at Amazon. I just replaced my 50amp transfer switch last year with a Parallax Power Supply #ATS501. It cost $180 and was a piece of cake to install. You might also consider a surge protector if you don't already have one. Good Luck-------Dane
