tried to burn her up.

We were heading down the 5 about 1/2 way between Roseburg and Grants Pass when the DW smelled smoke. We were really lucky that we were right ar an exit,82,and safely got it off the freeway.I bailed and headed for the back and saw smoke coming from the camera area.We had just had the cable replaced and I thought it was shorting.I headed up the ladder, looked down and saw the smoke was also coming from the right tailiight.ooppss.Grabbed an extinguisher, opened the engine access hatch and blew about 1/2 a bottle into that corner.Stopped and looked and saw flames on a section of the foam insulation there,so blew the rest of it and that got the flames. Then I pulled the taillight lens off,it eas a tad melted and soft.and poured about bottles of water down the hole to get the foam to stop glowing.Called Good Sam and had big tow truck inside of an hour and got towed into G P for repairs. It turned out that the flex pipe had burned out and was pumping all that heat up into that corner.ooppss.I think that the only reason we made it was that it was raining REALLY hard and there was a lot of spray.
I'm really finding it hard to believe that these rigs came with flex pipe,or that the previous owner would let someone do that.

I have the 7390 and it has the hard to the muffler and flex after. It's weird that happened as I had just gone over everything very carefully, school bus driver, and had just talked with Brazell's about putting on a 5050 XL and a hard pipe. We're going down there for an IRV2 meet and greet in May on our way to PNW Rv.net spring rally in Prosser the following week-end.

What are your thoughts now on fire extinguishers that come with RV's?

And how many will you carry in the future?

Quick action saved your MH. I will check out my 7390 as soon as we get dry weather. I carry two other fire extinguishers besides the dinky one that came with the MH. One in the bedroom and one up front. Going to add one more to a bay.

I like Dick have the flex before the muffler but I also have a grey coating on mine
and looks new. When I looked at it I also thought this was someones joke at a
muffler install.

I have seen boats burn from exhausts pipes. I love to have at less two 5lb fire extinguishers close by. I glad you were able to get it out .

wow, that really makes me think I might have been lucky, just returned from palm springs drove home to british columbia, at some point the 5 to 4 inch reducer that connects my tail pipe to the muffler had rusted almost clean through at the c clamp and was hanging on by a thread, tail pipe was fine, I also have the flex pipe before the muffler, Big Dog just curious how long the flex pipe was in between the the muffler and tail pipe? was it just the reduecer peice or a long connection to your tail pipe?

If you mean time wise,it's been longer than the two years we've had it.If you mean lengthwise,I tthink the new one is under 36" fromthe muffler to the exxtension.I thinkit was pretty well gone inside and the running at freeway speeds on a very wetfreeway just finally did a job on it.Personally,I wouldn't use on this type of installation with the high heat from a diesel.
If I remember correctly someone had a diagram for an OEM installation for a 37' and I'm wondering if there is a way to get one for my LTC.????ORCHIDS

Hey guys... might look at this... it's cheap insurance against fires.
Fire Fight - SS-30 Small-Format Automatic-Release Fire Extinguisher
A lot of people are putting them in the back of refrigerators but they would be great in an engine compartment too.
