Tropical Living Room Slide Mechanism

Been looking at this for a while now. Doesn't seem to be a good design to have the slide mechanism exposed to all the road dirt & grime. This pix shows the front LH tire and the living room slide mechanism. Was thinking about making a cover to shield the mechanism. Maybe bend a piece of aluminum to create a "box" to cover it.
Anyone else do something similar?
Don

Ugly location for anything that's expected to move , I'd be tempted to go with a rubber shield the would be easy to move and allow access to lube the mechanism , and add that to your annual maintenance list.

Yup. We have the same unit. We went through a rain storm in New Mexico and the crime and dirt was terrible. As a temporary solution I bought a can of "Protect All" Slide Out Dry Lube Protectant and Rust Inhibitor and sprayed all the exposed parts under the coach. We have been FT for 7 months and I just checked it, and it looks really good. Good Luck and Happy Trails.
