Ttiton 10 Vs. 460 Ford

Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts or opinions on which was the better engine and why? Checking specs between the '97 460 and the 98 Tritons they seem very similar.

There are other things to consider. The transmission and rear end have a lot to do with getting power to the pavement. Many will chip in with issues with spark plugs on the V10, manifolds on the 460, you'll get an earful.

I have had both engines, nd they served me well, but I always had concerns over the high RPM revving of the V10. Guess I am just a big block guy.

The high revs does take a little getting used to but the engine is just fine with it. I don't think I've ever heard of a V-10 damaged by over revving.

I had a 90 460 with the 3 speed and have an 06 V10 with 5 speed. Completely different driving experience even with an 8k increase in GVWR.

Electronic injection and spark control are world's away from carburetors and mechanical distributors.

Those same controls keep the modern engine from grenading too.

Btw bought both new, the 06 as 1 year old leftover with 380 miles and now have 43k on it.

If you overheat a V10 it will disable 1/2 of the cylinders and use them for cooling. Air pump.
