Useless electrical info (until you need it)

I recently had to make an electrical connection to an existing plug in my 2005 Dolphin. These are the white nylon connectors used everywhere for the dc power system. At first glance, they appeared to be standard Molex connectors available at Radio Shack. However, after further investigation it turned out they were not the same. I searched through Molex data and found that the pin/socket diameter is .084" vs the RS type that is .093". I also found that the RS crimping tool and extraction tool will work fine with this other connector. There are two types of bodies one being the translucent nylon and the other being a red brick color. The translucent version will stand a higher temp environment. Here is a link to the connectors.

Go to mouser.com to order. They will supply any quantity via a web order. Usually, the shipping will cost more than the parts. But when you need one or two this is the place to go.
