On my model 7373, 2000 tradewinds with door in front. Just left of the passengers seat i see a floor vent. What comes out of this and from where does it come? The gentleman that owned this MH before me had it duct taped for some reason. I removed the duct tape, and i wonder why he had it covered. Rivrduk

In most cases vents in the floor are for the propane heater. You can test that by just running the heater.

In my 1999 Tradewinds the heater vents look like the round one pictured, and are all in the walls. I don't have any in the floor. We have a front door model with the kitchen in the slide, so it's not very different than yours.

Perhaps this vent was added by the PO to help keep the fresh water tanks from freezing, and then discovered it wasn't needed. There located right under the pass seat. There is a furnace vent supplying warm air into the compartment but they may have felt it wasn't enough.

Yep, I would bet on either the propane heater or providing warm air to avoid freezing temps in a storage bay or two. On my Winnie I almost closed off a vent under my shower which I couldn't find a reason for only to learn it was to keep my plumbing bay from freezing.

I have the same motorhome. That vent is to allow the furnace to blow warm air into the tank area.If you block it it restricts air flow to the tanks.I cover mine till the temp gets below freezing to reduce drafts.Below freezing I uncover it to allow the heat to circulate.

How does it blow to the tank area if it is vented into the MH? The PO just told me that it was to heat the coach, but he covered it to prevent hot air from coming in the coach in the summer and cold air coming in in the winter. This was while driving. He said that the tank area had another outlet to warm it. If you notice there are no heater outlet vents to warm the front of the MH. My outlet vents for the heat are round and comes out of horizontal vents every place else. Rivrduk

If you go into the passenger front storage bay and look in the rear upper corner you will see a small door held by velcro. Behind it you will find the fresh water drain valve and a heat duct.Without the floor vent the pressure would build up and the hot air would not circulate.I dom't know about the other reasons the PO gave you. They don't make sense to me .But I've only owned mine for 8 years

Another learning experience I had concerning the heat. When it got into the teens I thought I would supplement the heat with electric heaters. It tricked the thermostat and the furnaces didn't run.The result was a split pipe near the fresh water tank. That is when I discovered the heat pipe near the tank.

There are floor vents, and floor vents and floor vents in Motor homes

I have one (It is a Wall "Vent" that is to the left as I enter my motor home. behind the swivel chair as it's bolted down. Looks for all the world to be a floor vent.. It is the Sub Woofer for the home theater system.

IN front of my wife's foot is a vent in the firewall, not the floor but the firewell.. Air intake for the air conditioner. NOTE this can blow cold air back into the rig under some (leaky air door) conditions)

And of course there are assorted heater vents. Both engine and house system.

I have those vents also but we are talking about the floor vent next to the passenger seat in a Tradewinds 7373.

Your reasoning seems correct. I thank you for it. I know the velcro cover you are talking about as i drained the fresh water tank. Thanks, Rivrduk
