How fast does it leak down? Minutes? hours?

It's not a big job to replace the seals. But before you resort to that have you tried:
  • Put warm water in the bowl to soften the seal and whatever is stuck to it.
  • Let the valve slam closed a couple of times.
  • Use the special seal cleaner around the underside of the rubber seal.
Good Luck!

Pulling a toilet and checking it out from the other end isn't a big deal. Even replacing it isn't difficult or extremely expensive. Not the most pleasant job but not hard to do.

I have used a Q-tip to clean the underside of the rubber gasket. Try cleaning it well and see if that works.

My two toilets came with a thing that looks like a file or fingernail brushing board.

I slide it between the gasket and run it around the entire seal. That always clears the problem and the bowl holds water for about a year or more and then I need to do it again.

When I'm not using the coach I fill the bowls with water so as to keep everything moist.

I agree with the other posts. Usually, if my toilet has that leak, it means there is a bit of something in the rubber seal. Time for the latex gloves and a bit of cleaning the seal. Has worked each time for me. Not fun but part of the RV'ing experience.

I had the same problem last Winter when I got to my destination. My toilet is a Sealand. I did try a few things listed to stop that leak, to no avail. So, got the model number, went to local rv dealer and got a kit to fix it. Mine has a foot pedal, connected to a round ball that rubs on a seal. Had to unbolt the top portion of the toilet to replace the ball and seal. Real nasty job, no wonder plumbers get a lot of money per hour! Well, that did the trick.

Try the emory board /finger nail file approach as mentioned===== mine came with the similar device and it works fine. If it does not work then you need to replace seal.

If cleaning it does not work you have to replace the rubber seal. I did this twice before realizing the liquid Klem kills the rubber seal, since using drop ins no more problem.

Ours drained the water that fast or worse. After the cleaning tool and other stuff I gave up and replaced the rubber seals and the ball. Not the most pleasant project but it is nicer if you empty the holding tank and spray it out with one of those wands a couple of times. Then follow the directions on the instructions that come with the replacement parts. Holds water no problem now.

Mine did the same thing. I tried everything above and nothing worked. I went to camping world to buy a kit and they wanted $81 for the kit. They have a ceramic toilet on sale for $149 so I just bought a new one. Took all of 20 minutes to install.

Most likely what you have is mineral deposits on the rubber seal. That was the problem I had. Having lived in it for five years, a lot of water went through it. Being cheap, I took it apart and cleaned all of the mineral deposits from the seal and ball, put it back together, and it held for a few years. Second time, I went the new seal route.

Just make sure you follow the "this side up" instructions!
