Water pump location?
I have a 2004 Dolphin LX 6342. The water pump is cycling every 3-5 seconds. Still produces good water pressure but the cycling problem is annoying. Have searched for water leaks but have not found any. Have read it may be a valve inside the pump. I am unable to locate the pump. Does anyone know where it is?
Thanks in advance.

Your water pump is behind the water service panel, the one with the handles and city water inlet. Remove the screws holding the panel on and the panel will come out and down.

Thanks
Thanks Richard. That's where the sound is coming from when the pump cycles but I was reluctant to go into that area without some confidence that the pump was there.

Mine is in full view under the bed which is obviously not where yours is located, but it seems that you do have some direction now. Once you get in there and if you still suspect it's the check valve and don't want to buy another pump, the just install an external check valve from HD hardware or other and see if that cures it before closing it back up. I did this and thought it took care of it at first, but it apparently has not so I removed it and now carry it on board for whatever. I'm thinking now, that it's the valve in the shore input line and since I have no water leaks showing up, have decided to live with it, since it's not all that bad and does remind you that the pump is on.

Make sure the outside shower knobs are "off". It is possible to stop the water flow at the head and still have the hot or cold knobs turned on.

More than likely, it is your fresh water fill valve leaking some. This is why you can't find any visible water where it has leaked.

Man, I wish mine were under the bed. That would sure make life easier. Like you, I've already considered living with it for a while. Thanks for the response.

Thanks for your reply. I had not considered that. How do you check it and repair it if necessary?

I purchased a new one. Any good plumbing supply will have them. It is a Watts valve, if I remember correctly. It is the easiest thing to check first. Mine had started leaking so bad that it would change the level in the fresh water tank when hooked up on city water. Take the cover off so that the valves are visible. Take the line loose going to the fresh water tank from the valve. Hook up to city water and watch for some leakage. If none here, then the next place would be the check valve at the pump, but I think it will be the fill valve leaking.

I have just purchased a 2004 Dolphin and am having the same problem, the pump cycles every few seconds... I can't find any leaks so removed the hot water tank, now the tank is out and bypassed.... and the pump still runs on every few seconds...no leaks under any of the faucets... anybody have any ideas?

Is the cap on the city water hose connector? There is a check valve in the connector and if the cap is not on and the check valve is not centered, it can loose pressure and cause the pump to cycle. I've had this happen to me.

I have experienced such pump cycling with no visible leakage anywhere to be seen. The cause I found was the fill valve leaking internally and basically pumping water back into the fresh water tank. Make sure the lever is positioned fully and in the proper position. Try working that valve several times or consider replacing it. I believe it is a 3 port Watts valve as previously mentioned in this thread.

Jerry,
Thanks so much for your help. This is an excellent forum. You gave me another idea that may be an even simpler solution. i have been using a quick connect for my shore water connection to make life easier mainly because it slants down at a 45-degree angle. That may be causing an air leak also. I know that the seals on quick connects wear after awhile. I'll try removing that first. Hopefully, that will be the solution. I'll let you know. Thanks again.
