If it is rubber, it may be the piece that snaps into the awning boom to hold the awning itself in place. Does it go into a groove on the outside of the aluminum awning boom or does it go into the boom itself?

I'll have to get the step ladder out to check. It may be tomorrow (3/17) before I can post the answer to your question.

It looks the same with the slide-out in or out

Thank you for the quick response.

This forum is ESPECIALLY helpful for us first timers.

It looks like the spline that holds the awning cover into the roller. You should be able to push it back into the groove. I'd bet it has worked loose over time, and the slipstream has pulled it out to where you see it now.

Its the rubber that holds the awning into the slot on the aluminum roller. Check the other end and see if it has been sucked into the awning. If so pull it back. If not you can cut off the extra piece w/o troubles.

Here's the resolution:

I attempted to push the rubber/plastic spline back into the slot but it wouldn't cooperate so I cut it off right were it came out of the slot and went to the other end and pushed it int the empty slot.

Thanks for the help.
