Where is the connector?

Hi all,

Continuing to work on my 97 Tropical and the check engine light comes on after a few miles. I have a reader only I cant find the connection plug. I was told it was under the dash on the driver side, but I cant find it. Help, please.

Welcome to the forum,


RV mfrs. are not required to comply with the same standard as passenger auto's on OBD11 ports.
The age of your RV is close to where those types of interfaces started appearing on most vehicles & chassis'. There may be a more proprietary connector in the engine bay somewhere. Other coach owners will indicate their experience.

Your chassis should be OBD1. Here is a thread the shows the location of the self test plug and how to read the codes. If you need help Subford is an expert on the Ford chassis, send him a PM or post in the Ford Chassis Forum.
