08 Allegro Bus with Class V 25k hitch

All
I would like to buy a stacker trailer to haul my truck and golf cart around 5 klbs the stacker trailer I am looking at weighs 9500 lbs this would total 15 klbs. The current hitch is only good for 10 klbs. is their any reason I can't install a 3" Class V hitch that is good for 25 klbs? as long as I stay within my gross weight?

That's a question I would pose to the chassis manufacturer. Are you on a Freightliner or Spartan?

It's not necessarily just the hitch. It also depends on the RV hitch mounting to the rig, axle, brake and tire limits and loads and things like overhang from the rear axle to the hitch that changes the bending moment on the RV frame where it crosses the axle. In short, it takes a complete engineering analysis to determine if it can be done.

That said, these things are all based on worst case scenario of towing on rough roads, at maximum speeds with maximum dynamic loads. When we were farming I used to regularly pull a trailer with 22,000 pounds of hogs in it with a 3/4 ton Ford PU. Not anywhere near allowable, but I knew the roads, knew a farm truck wouldn't be weighed, and traveled well below maximum speed. You can do it, but the question is, "Should you do it?"

Why not get a "Cricket" that will fit inside your pick up? I have one - cost about $3,500 new including the ramps and fits inside a VW Jetta, Honda CRV, among others. Max speed of 14 mph and can carry up to four.

Good luck!

Tiffin had a 15K Hitch available for the Bus in 08.my 08 has a factory rating of 15K towing weight so u should be good to go with A 15K hitch and 1200lb equalizer bars.

yes actually what mine says is GVWR of 34600 and a GCVW of 49600 which is the total combined weight of cargo, motorhome and trailer. It does not actually say where or how the weight has to be
Heres what my Spartan sticker says:GCVW means the maximum allowable loaded weight of this motorhome and any towed trailer or vehicle.

SO? where does it say "and only tow a maximum of 10K?
It says the Factory hitch is rated for 10K so yes U can only tow 10K with a 10K hitch but if u put on a 15 k hitch in theory U can tow 15K but would have to do it with no added Motorhome cargo however as we all know these big Sparton Frames can handle a lot more than they rate them for
I personally would have no quam,s pulling 15K with the proper +safe hitch system
