2001 32' Allegro Bay weights/ride?

As we've started getting serious about upgrading from our current coach, we came across a 2001 32' Allegro Bay. For us (lots of shorter trips), the balance of the small rear bedroom and somewhat compact bathroom with the large slideout and living space up front is manageable, and the short length is very appealing from a home storage situation, and for not having to bother towing anything.

It's on the Freightliner chassis, but I was surprised at the ride quality; while not quite tooth-jarring, it wasn't 'silky smooth' either. One thing I noticed is that the tire widths are only 235mm, which made me wonder if they aren't being pushed to the limit on weight (and thus having to have max tire pressures, leading to the poor ride). For example, the rear axle only has 17,200lbs of tire load available (the fronts have 10,000lbs). I forgot the check for the sticker weight (and Tiffin doesn't have data back past 2005 that I found).

We don't generally carry a ton of stuff (although since we almost exclusively dry camp, we do generally travel with a full tank of fresh water) so a limited payload wouldn't hurt us too badly, but I'm just trying to puzzle through if my expectations of ride are too high, or if it is this particular coach, or perhaps something that can be remedied on this coach.

thanks!

Steve

Steve,
That's probably on the same chassis as the 2002 Allegro Bus. You can see the specs for it here: http://freightlinerchassis.com/image...C0201-2002.pdf.

That's a great chassis reference, thanks! It confirms the rough calculations I had made... that the rear axle is 17,500lbs and the front is 10,500. So the question is... what does it really weigh, and is the somewhat rough ride because you have to have the tires right up at 100psi max pressure?

I just expected it to have more of a smooth ride than it did... or am I expecting too much out of a "plain vanilla" 4 bag Freightliner chassis?

Also, if anyone had a copy of the Allegro brochure or knows the fresh/grey/black tank sizes, I'd appreciate it!

Steve.... if you are sure that you have an air bag suspension system, I would thing that the ride height may need to be adjusted to give you that ride you are looking for.

I didn't realize that the Allegro Bay was on a Freightliner chassis...thought they were gas powered rigs.
