Hi,

Full timer gal here needs troubleshooting advice--trying to figure out why my front tv won't turn on. It worked fine a few days ago.

First, I had to reset the breaker under the fridge because only on 30a service and blew the outside breaker with space heaters a few times in the past week---winter. Still wouldn't turn on. Then I replaced the remote control batteries. Still won't turn on. (The DVD and cable boxes in the cabinets are on.)

Could I have blown something in the tv? It's a 32" Toshiba flat screen and the manual ON/OFF controls must be encased in the frame so I can't test it that way.

I was reading the other posts and wondering if I could slide the tv out after loosening the screws in the cabinets on each side and ---does it really weighs 70#?? Does that include the frame inside too?

I would like to upgrade to a flatscreen with streaming video if this one is truly capoot.

Thanks!

Hi,
First we need to know what you have... a flatscreen means crt(tube) that is flatfront not rounded... Lcd means liquid crystal Display and Led means Light emmitting diode... CRTs last really long time... most use little or no power when off. (exception if they have a fast on feature)... LCDs are power hogs. I have replaced 4 in 10 years at my moms house... 1to lightning strike. 1 to power surge... (all my house LCDs are now on battery backups to condition the power getting to the tv). 2 just wore out... (she runs the tv 24/7/365) The CRT they replaced was 12 years old.. Led is newest technology... it uses less power than a LCD. It also should be more durable...
The first step in trouble shooting is to verify you have power to the tv cord.
Plug something else into the outlet to verify it is working or use a volt meter.
Try the remote at something like the dvd or other thing and see if it sets off an led light showing it has recieved a signal... my Seagate home theator that i use to get streaming netflix in the house, has this led and it flashes when ever any remote is used at it...
My 27"crt in the motohome weights about 50lbs
My 32" rebuildt LCD weights about 28lbs..

If that does not work then I would look at a new LED.... the one I want is 3D...
good luck.
ps when the lightning took out the 1st LCD, I got one off ebay with a broken screen for $100 and replace the powersupply in the bad one and it works great now...

CRTs are very deep where LCD and LEDs are very thin...
hope that helps...

Contact the Tiffin help line at 256-356-0261 and talk to a service tech. My Panasonics have a fuse inside their case and I blew all on one power surge. Easy to replace once I knew what I was looking for. Another option is to call Toshiba and see what they say. Obviously you're still in warranty, so a visit to any Tiffin dealer will also solve the problem.

Hi tealstar

As far as I know, your 2004 Bay should be similar to our '05, and if you say you have a 32" Toshiba up front, I assume it is an LCD that someone has used to replace the original 25" CRT TV. I say that because a 32" CRT (picture tube) TV won't fit in the front of our Allegro Bay, and because Tiffin had been using all Panasonic TVs for a pretty long time. The old 25" CRT TV will weigh 70 lb, but a 32" LCD should be in the neighborhood of 25 to 30 lb, so you should be able to get it out relatively easily. Have a helper to unhook wires for you.

Our TV is plugged into a receptacle in the right-hand cabinet. You say the DVD player is on, but ours is on the left side. Plug something else (like a lamp) into the same plut that the TV is plugged into to make sure the receptacle works. If it does and the TV still doesn't, There could be something wrong with the TV.
