2008 Allegro 34TGA Questions

Everyone has been very helpful on this forum !
We have a couple of questions :
1. Someone mentioned an emergency slide retraction system ... can you please give us more info on that ? Is that something we should look into ?
2. Need to find where the filters for the ACs are located ?
3. Since this is our first motor home, is play normal in the steering ?

Thanks so much for all your help !!!

1. The slides are the electric or hydraulic? I would familiarize my self with the theory of operation electric or hydraulic so I could be prepared to have to manually override the system to close them and get it to a repair facility.

2. As far as I know the roof mounted AC system air filters are located in the inlet vents in the ceiling. I have seen people put them in the outlet vents as well but it will restrict air flow with both inlet and outlet filtered.

3. No, but...Play in the steering wheel if excessive should be checked out immediately. That said if it is more wandering than play, new shocks and or steering stabilizer should improve the condition. As well there are aftermarket components improve handling above OEM. I find the OEM shocks to be the shortest life span component in the chassis from new.

We have 2 slides and both are electric, living rm has the the motor and gears outside under the slide. Easy to get to. The bedroom has the motor and gears under a panel thats under the bed. I think in either case you can use a socket or wrench to crank them in if need be. Had a bolt break on the living rm slide that caused it to only move in on front side. Thru these formums and the Tiffin forum found out the the cause is the shoulder part of the bolt is to short and it breaks at the threaded part. I picked up grade 8 bolts and some washers to replace the broken one and have some spares. You have to shorten the one that attaches the rear shaft to the motor for clearance with the mounting bracket. Is the steering actually loose or does it seem you have to correct it alot? We have a 12ft overhang and I put on a Henderson track bar up front and another one , which I can't remember who made it (it's blue in color) on the rear and they made a big difference.
