Gimmegas, Thanks. We did not hear from Tiffin today, but we plan on rolling into the campground tomorrow afternoon. We made it as far as Texarkana. We are not putting the slides out for fear they won't go back in. I'll check this post tomorrow night. Thanks again.

We left voice mail for our sales person and the service dept. The sales person was not in today and the service dept does not know how to use a phone. Maybe they need to replace their digital phone with a rotary. Hopefully we'll hear for them tomorrow when the sales person returns.

You are so funny. We left a message for Tiffin two days ago and no one has called us yet. We are now in Red Bay, so we will see what happens tomorrow. Keep me posted.

Hi Ewings2, After several more phone calls, we did hear from the sales department today. At this point our sales person is our only line of communication to the service department. It seems there are 2 different types of living room slide toppers installed on the 36LA. Tiffin needs to confirm which slide topper is on our unit, so they have requested the dealer send them more info along with some pictures. It sounds like their decision to install the center brace will be based on which slide topper was installed. They hope to get back to us soon, and the moon comes up in the morning Will keep you posted........

Gimmegas, Did you get my PM email I sent you? If not let me know and I'll send it again. We are in Red Bay and in line to have our work done. I don't think we will find out anything until we get into the bay for repairs. I am going to talk to Bob Tiffin sometime next week, so we will see what happens. Will keep you posted. :thanx:

Yes we did get your PM. Forgot to thank you for that. Seems this slide topper issue has a lot of arms and legs. Very interesting to say the least.

Two different types of slide toppers? I would've thought they'd go with one type for all units. I guess you've got a 50/50 chance of not needing the brace. Better odds than a 100% chance you do need the brace. Let us know what happens.

Thumbs up

And you would think they would know on which unit they installed which topper. For sure we do need the brace. It's pretty embarrassing when you pull into a camp ground in $100K + motorhome and then have people watch you push up on you slide topper with a broom handle in order to get it to roll out. Maybe Tiffin will work around the problem adding a handy dandy broom handle to their standard equipment list.

We arrived at Red Bay on Thursday and called into the service bay on Monday morning.

Here is the outcome of the 36LA Slide Topper Cradle brace saga. We don’t fully understand who is at fault (if anyone) for the missing center Cradle. But, after many phone calls, a few extra days of waiting around and providing Tiffin with a copy of the A & E warranty documentation, the REQUIRED cradle was installed on the slide topper at no charge. Before the installation of the cradle, the tube holding the topper awning warped in the middle. Installations of the cradle straightens out the tube so the topper will roll in and out better. It seems Tiffin is now set up to install the cradle brace. As far as we know, there will not be a general recall for this item. It will be replaced for those who request it.

We purchased a 2013 36LA in Dec 12. We love the layout and the quality of the coach. We have had it in for service for the door problem and main slide topper. The door problem seems to be fixed; however, the weather has warmed and we had the problem during cold weather. The main slide topper was replaced but no cradle brace yet. We'll wait and see if it is needed. We also had a problem with the freezer not getting cold enough. It was determined to be a ventilation problem and seems to be working fine now. Now the power protection transfer switch in the electrical compartment is making a thumping noise, so we'll be taking the MH back for service on that issue. Has anyone had that problem?

When you plug in the 50 amp power cable and throw the breaker switch you hear a loud "thumping noise." Is this the sort of thumping noise that you are hearing at the Surge Guard Power Transfer Box that you describe? If so, I would suggest that you unplug the power cable, take the cover off the transfer box and make certain that all the wires inside are tightly connected to the busses inside, especially the ground. A loose connection might be causing the sound.

The last two posts are way off topic but yes, the power transfer switch does (and should) make a load thump as it connects. If you getting buzzing or failure to connect (the thump) you should remove all power, remove the cover, and re-tighten the connections. If you have continuing issues, please start a new topic.
