2014 Allegro RED Tail Light Problem

There are 2 bulbs in each tail light on either side of the RV which are supposed to turn on when the headlights are on, or flash when the turn signal is on. My problem is that the driver side tail light bulbs flash with the turn signal and light when braking. However, they don't light when the headlights are turned on. In other words the bulbs on the driver side are okay, but there's a problem in the headlight circuit. Could this be a fuse issue? I'm trying to figure out where to start looking for the problem

I too had a similar problem with my 2014 QFA, on the passenger side. I swapped bulbs with the driver's side because I thought it odd that both bulbs were out at the same time. The bulbs were fine. I tested with my voltmeter, and got voltage to the wiring harness. Then, all of a sudden, the lights started working again. Could not get it to duplicate the problem. I believe there is a problem with the wiring harness itself. I did a search for tail light assemblies, and the costs are all over the map. Some with harnesses, some without. The tail light assemble and wiring harness are Chevy products, and are side specific. So, I am going to a junk yard to find another wiring harness to have as a reserve, so that if this repeats itself, it's time to switch harnesses.

Hope this helps you with your problem.

Allen

I would start by checking the bulbs, use a meter to check continuity for both filaments if they are good then check the socket. If the brake/turn filaments work then the ground should be good to the socket so check the post in the socket for both brake/turn if no voltage to the light post trace the wires that provide power to the running light system. Look and see if you can find wires going to a clearance light near by those wires should be tied to the light wire to the rear tail light housing. All the clearance and tail light should be on one fuse. If no luck then you can use a jumper wire from any clearance light to the problem light to help locate the problem.

I had a similar problem. The cause was the sockets that the lights plug into. They were spread apart too far so they did not make proper contact with the bulbs. Worked fine for the previous year then one day they did not. I just used a small screwdriver and a small needle nose plier to close the contacts.

Thanks. It seems like something like that to me too. I'll have to dig in to take a look.
