2017 Tiffin 36LA

Thinking of trading my 2015 36 LA with the 5 speed in on a 2017 LA with the 6 speed tranny. Love the 36 LA but have had lots of issues with my 2015. Is the 2017 with 6 speed a better driving coach? Any opinions ........

2017 Tiffin 36LA

Like you we have and are having issues with 2014 TiffinLA . Why not look at the Newmar 3710 bath and a 1/2. We took a tour of the Newmar factory and were extremely impressed. Furthermore, Newmar takes appointments at the factory vs. sitting and waiting. And for us Nappanee is much closer. Cabinet work on the Newmar is much better as is attention to detail. JMHO

Our '16 36LA with the six speed is definitely an improvement over the five speed. Mostly I like that I can do @ 67MPH at 2500RPM - much more quiet.

I'm not sure it's worth trading up from a '15 to a '17. However, I do like the new end caps and paint schemes for '17. Also, more importantly, they have added cup holders to the driver's and passenger's sides of the seats!

What issues have you had with your 36LA?

We have a 2012 36LA we bought new March 2012. No issues, no visits to a dealer and one trip to Red Bay, only because it was on our way back to Kentucky for a cracked windshield replacement and we enjoyed the one day service on that replacement. IMO it is easier to add the 5 Star tune, and install your own cup holders if that is the reason you are looking at up grading. The 5 Star tune will a make a difference in performance and shifting. The cup holders well, I added those plus a usb port on the DW side of the cab. My side has a door and I installed a fold down holder on it.

Can you post a pick of the fold down holder you installed? I would love to do the same thing.

Here's a couple of pictures. The driver's side is only being held by Velcro and when open rests on the ledge for additional support. There are no screws or such holding it. Passenger side is where I cut a hole in the wall arm rest and placed a two cupholder along with a cellphone holder for the wife. You will notice I also installed a dual usb port on that side.
