2018 34pa ccc

I am considering a used 34A that is 400 miles away and I can’t put eyes on it.
All literature that I have seen indicates that the 2018 34 PA only comes on the 26,000 pound chassis. The MSRP data sheet from Tiffin indicates 24,000 pound.
Are some 2018’s on the 24,000 pound chassis?
Does this mean I just lost 2000 pounds of cargo carrying capacity?
What would be an average CCC on the 24k chassis?
This unit has factory installed sumo springs. Does that help with capacity?
Should I be concerned about this unit?
Thanks for your input.

probably more than you can load it up with. knowing the exact ccc is the least of your problems with a motorhome. Dave

Rarely make personal comments but what kind of answer was that?

To answer the question, they made them on both chassis and you will have less CCC with the 24K by a fair margin. In 2019 they have gone exclusively to the 26K chassis on the 34PA.

Ask the owner to send you a photo via email of the carrying capacity label found in the bedroom closet. It will tell you the GVWR, the unloaded weight, a full propane weight to calculate the carrying capacity. If on 26k chassis subtract the weight over 4000lbs of the Toad you plan to tow from the carrying capacity. If your toad is 4400lbs subtract 400lbs.

I agree and think that some were built on the 24,000 chassis and others went to the 26,000 chassis. In either case the combined rating for towing is 30,000 lbs. I too would ask the seller for a photo of the weight label so you know what the capacity is.
My guess is if you tend to travel heavy you may want to opt for the 26,000 chassis. The sumo springs do not change the chassis weight capacity but should be a nice-to- have option.

I’d beware a 34PA on the 24K chassis (many are out there) and feel secure with the 26K.

In 2016 when I was investigating coaches Danny Inman at Tiffin sent me weights on several new coaches on site. A 34PA on the 26K chassis equipped with the washer and dryer and L sofa weighed 21,750 pounds with 7950 pounds on the front axle (9000 pounds capacity) and 13,800 on the rear axle (17,500 capacity).

I have a 2016 34PA on the 24K chassis. I've had it weighed multiple times, both at Rallies (4-corner weighing) and at the CAT Scales (front and rear axle weights). I've always had margin on the front axle. I was always close to Max axle weight on the rear, but never over. Now, on my year/model, the only difference between the 24K and 26K chassis was the rear spring rating. So for piece of mind, I had 2000lb. capable helper springs added to the rear axle. I know it doesn't change the certified weight, and I haven't changed the way I load the coach when we travel, but from a practical perspective, I know the rear axle is fully capable of handling more weight if I need to use it. And my toad is 3500 lbs., so no issue there either. So yes, you need to watch your weight on the 24K chassis, but there is a solution out there for you. And the aftermarket cost of adding the 2000 lbs added capability on mine was a lot less than the delta charge you have to pay to get the 26K chassis instead of the 24K. For what it's worth...
