2019 Sprinter electric seat fix

I talked with the Mercedes Sprinter Rep for Tiffin today. He said they finally got a fix for the power seats moving forward when you recline them. He said the engineers tested it today and it worked "flawlessly" (his words). He said the seat can even be reclined so its almost flat.

The next step is for them to prepare a bulletin for the dealers explaining how to do the fix. Its software as far as I know. You will then have to go to a Mercedes dealer to get the fix applied. He implied it might be 4 or 5 days or a week before it's generally available.

The problem arose, because the cut-away chassis was treated like the work van, where there is a wall behind the seats, so the software was designed to move the seat forward when you started to recline it. He told me the passenger van don't have an obstruction behind the seats, so they don't behave that way. The software decides how to behave based on the vin numbers (or type of vehicle.). They originally thought it would be an easy fix, but it turned out to be more complex. Not sure how they got around this, but he did say that an update has to be performed for each seat.

I guess that once a bulletin is produced and we have the bulletin number or reference, then we can pursue getting the fix applied. I don't know if I want to be one of the first or not, but we sure find the current situation very uncomfortable for us.
