34TGA Drivers Door

The wife and I are in the market to replace our current rig (Winnebago Adventurer) and seriously looking at the 34TGA. It seems like none of the dealers out here in SoCal stock the model with the drivers door option. I've had a drivers door in the last two motorhomes I've owned and always liked having the ability to hop out without going through the coach. So it comes down to buying off the lot without one or ordering one. Not in a big hurry to get the coach so the wait is no big deal. Seems weird that they don't have even one coach on the lot with a DD. Just can't wrap my head around not having it. Am I crazy? What's your perspective?

I had one on my 01 Winn Chieftain and really liked it. My 08 Bounder didn't have one and in a short time I stopped missing it

My coach has one. It was bought off the lot. I probably wouldn't have ordered it because I had one on a previous class A that was terrible. It didn't seal correctly and leaked air. Not the case with the Tiffin. Well made and sealed tight. I would definitely order your coach with it and not settle for one off the lot without one.

My 34TGA was ordered and I had the drivers door option included. With my coach, as long as the seal is properly seated to the door frame, there is no air leak or noise. Although I seldom use the door, when it is opened it is easy to access the area under the steering wheel if needed. Also, in case the main entry door doesn't open for some reason, the drivers door is a good backup. And, with all the problems Tiffin coaches have experienced with the door locks, its good to have an alternative.

Our '07 34 TGA had it, it was near useless. The steps into it were at such a bad angle one had to be a lot more muscular and limber than I to use it with any comfort. It came in handy once only in that it gave me easier access to something I was working on under the lower left dash.

If I had the option, I'd not spend the money on it.

We have never needed our driver side door, but I like having more than one exit from the RV.

We own a 2014 36LA with the Driver's Door. Love it, don't know how we would do without it. Great for pumping gas and climbing out at Dump Stations

Talking Drivers side door

Just traded in my 2013 c class leprochaun for 2013 33LA with the drivers side door.
I really like this option. Much safer that swinging open the main entrance door to step out for fueling up and having vehicle traffic literally at your door step.
Will opt for this as long as I can physically manuver the climb and decent.

I have a 36LA being built with a early March Delivery. I work at a dealer doing show deliveries and with the door you get the power window. This feature alone made it a must on my order.

My first Class was a new 2012 34 TGA. I came with the Driver's side door. I have never used the door for anything other than to hang my CB set on it. In May of 2012 we went to Emerald Isle NC and the park I was in had an incline I had to level on. Apparently the way I was sitting opened the door frame seam located at about 8 o'clock on the door frame and after a heavy rainstorm my entire driver's side carpet was soaked. Not knowing where it came from I pulled all the interior trim off looking for it. About three weeks later after numerous rainfalls and many sessions with the garden hose, I noticed the small separation in the door frame. A little bit of black Permatex RTV and it finally stopped.

34TGA driver's door

We ordered our 2014LA with a driver's door option. Would not buy a motorhome without one because of the fire escape it provides. Even though our unit had a bad electric window switch (which I replaced and Tiffin charged me a $50. overnight fee) and the door still hangs up because of poor fit and installation I would highly recommend it. It also makes access to fuses and under dash connections. Had to grind down the head of an overextended door latch bolt. Make sure during your PDI that it opens cleanly and still seals. Tiffin's QC leaves much to be desired and our PDI fee was a waste of money.

We had a '13 34TGA for a few months. I really appreciated the driver's door. As a prior poster mentioned it comes in handy when the main coach door will not open. Tiffin finally replaced the coach door completely, solved the problem completely. There was never a problem with the driver's door. I used it often, like when fueling. Felt like a trucker almost. If you are buying and want one - get it.

One thing we really miss from our 34TGA is the real gas oven, I loved it. I could bake a pie, cake etc. Really a nice feature and on the TGA you won't miss the cabinet space. I assume they still offer that option. Wife loved it as well. I didn't leave the pilot on, just lit it when we were going to use it. Microwaves are OK with convection but that real gas oven is very nice, highly recommend it if you are ordering.
