Jim,

Thanks for the input. Being an automotive engineer by education and a wrenchhead by desire, I hope that addresing any problems will be fairly easy. Having said that, there are a couple Freightliner dealers fairly close to me and two Oasis dealers within a three hour drive. One is near where I have meetings on a regular basis. So I'm hoping any issues that I may have can be remedied without pain.

Looking forward to the RV lifestyle very much and hope the good weather comes soon.

Just got back from a business trip today and my earlier comment about airline disillusionment didn't get any better.

Bill,

My desire to fix things days are over. I just want to turn the key and go.

Airline service, or rather lack of it, has probably sold a lot motorhomes. It's not just the poor service but the bad attitude that goes with it.

In the same vein as the airlines are the filthy hotels & motels, and I'm not talking about just the cheapies. In my motorhome I know who slept in the bed last night and how clean everything in the coach is. Some of ours hotel/motel experiences include looking under the mattress pad and finding enough hair to braid a rug, watching while the bathroom was "mopped" with a lint roller on a stick, watching the "cleaning lady" wipe out the used bar glasses with a used bathroom towel - put a new paper topper on them and place them back on the bar - nothing run through a dish washer or sanitized, and being told that the rooms were only vacuumed "when they need it"- not daily or before a new customer rents the room. This is the short list from one Embassy Suites, a $150+ a night hotel. This is the same Embassy Suites that my wife had pointed out to the manager a really bad stain on the lobby carpet in front of the elevator the previous year. The stain was still there on what was our last stay at that hotel.

On the brighter side, pets help sell motorhomes (RVs of all kinds). Many people are like us and will not board our pets. We hired a house sitter to live in and take care of two horribly spoiled cats. The problem was that there is only one person my wife trusts with both, and if she was not available, we didn't go. As I write this, the wife is fixing those same two cats supper in our coach parked to a very nice park (Majestic Oaks RV Resort) while we're in Biloxi, MS, doing all we can to help their recovering economy by patronizing the local businesses (gambling & eating to much).

Airlines, hotels and pets. No telling how many RVs they have help sell.

Travel well, travel safe.
