Have 04 Chev Avalanche which at 7,000 feet and 90 degrees shut down to idle... gas pedal did nothing. Dealer said there was an altitude and heat advisory but dealer was not to cover under warranty unless they could re-create problem. I made it simple... just put it in your altitude chamber and heat it to 90 degrees.
They fixed Avalanche under warranty as they could not find their altitude chamber. Now have 04 Tiffin with same 8.1 engine but at 3,000 feet today and 65 degrees and it idles great... but gas pedal does nothing.
THE FIX:
Some 2" x 1/4 inch plug located on the steering col under dash became unplugged when I missed the emergency brake pedal. My foot caught the wiring and it disconnected. Gas Pedal no work.
Do not know what it is but if disconnected a thief can idle away... and I can chase them.
RE PLUG and back to normal
