Accelerated delivery date

Hello Tiffin Family,

We sent in our build sheet and the delivery date is going to be May 1st. Seems like an eternity, but I know it will go faster than it feels right now.

Does anyone have any experience of accelerating the delivery date?

Thanks

I hope you are prepared to spend a long time on the old runway. Our 40QBH was built for the Hersey show will all the bells and stuff. We've had over 40 issues taken care of over the past 3 years, some small and some not so much. Even with that our next rig will be a Tiffin

Yes, prepared for all the issues. Hopefully all small, but a house with a constant earthquake is bound to have issues.

Rumor is that on the assembly line they like donuts. Be prepared to buy at least 1200 donuts.

As a scheduler in a large manufacturing facility let me say this. We don't want to ship too late, it makes us look like a liar. We don't want to ship too early, it makes us look like we didn't know what we are talking about when we gave the delivery estimate. Tiffin is usually pretty close on their estimates, they will notify you of a firm start date when it gets closer.

A visit to Red Bay would show you why accelerating delivery is out of the question. They have so many orders they are building too fast which results in some QC problems. If possible be there for the final inspection stage on your coach so you can get things fixed before it goes to the dealer. Dealers do not have the parts stock or expertise as at the factory. I had my doubts when salesman told me I could go through and mark issues with blue painters tape. I did after workers left in afternoon and the next morning when I came in at 0715 the coach was in inspection bay and work on my issues was in progress.

We toured the Tiffin factory a few summers a go. Don't think it would be possible when you consider ALL the logistics involved. Only takes a week to build the house after chassis prep work.

If you have the time they will let you on the factory floor during the build. There was a couple a year or two back that was on site and did time lapse video of the build out of their Allegro Bus. I think they also did progress inspections and clean up of the coach after the shift ended. If nothing else if would be an education of where everything is (plumbing, electrical and such) with your new rig. You could probably do a pre-delivery inspection at Red Bay. Also you can not take delivery at the factory but you can follow it to your dealership.

Here is day one of the build out video. https://youtu.be/T_pfZGpJA80

We ordered our 36LA at the Hershey show last September, with a Feb 25, 2016 delivery date. The dealer placed the order at the end of September, no rush. I received a production schedule a few weeks later, and Tiffin stuck to that schedule. The build started November 4th. We went to Red Bay during the build, and was totally impressed.
In Mid December, the dealer notified us the coach was ready.
By ordering early, I missed the October price increase. I was also able to get the dealer to give me a little incentive ($$$) to pick the coach up early.

Congratulations on your new Tiffin. Similar to Brianb131, we ordered our 2016 40 QBH on September 23. We received the build schedule 3 weeks later with a start date of November 30th, completion December 22, and delivery January 5th 2016 ( Tiffin shuts down on December 23 for a 2 week Christmas break). We went to Red Bay to watch the build and it started right on schedule. It finished 3 days early which allowed us to take delivery on December 23. As others have mentioned, Tiffin builds are usually on, or not far off of schedule.

We ordered our Bus 40AP the 1st week of November, received a build schedule a month later. The coach was delivered to the dealer on the exact day the build schedule said it would, which was 2/4/16. Before we ordered our salesman called the Tiffin rep who gave him a delivery week of Feb 5th. You will notice on the build schedule that they put an extra week on the end of the schedule to accommodate any slow downs or unexpected problems. Ours took a little longer on the original build schedule because of the Christmas/New Years shut down. The build was not started until after the New Year. So far everything has been smooth sailing with the ordering, build and financing. We are flying out to pick it up on the 13th. So excited!

When we ordered ours back in 2014 we stated we needed delivery before a certain date, we spoke with our area rep and he said he would do what he could. The only stage that can save some time is the last inspection stage where the coach is inspected and systems are double checked, if things are wrong etc, this is where you lose time, if not then it can go to expediter, where if a driver is available, it will ship. We got ours about 4-5 days ahead of the original estimate..if no drivers are available, your coach may sit for a few days..

Very exciting indeed! i toured the factory a few months ago and it really made me want to buy a Tiffin and spend a week there watching it be built. Particularly since I live in the Nashville area so Red Bay is only about three hours from me.
