Rob&Sue,

Have you googled Alcoa's WebSite? I didn't know our new coach was going to come with valve extenders. I searched around and found them on the Alcoa website. But, I needed the Alcoa part number for our wheels and saw that Alcoa will sale the wheels and extenders directly to the consumer.

Also, Camping World carries Alcoa wheels. They are pricey, just shy of $2,500 a piece.

I didn't have an option on the brand when oridering the coach, but one of the selling features to me was the Alcoa brand wheels.

Best of luck!

The coach came with Accuride and as Mutha let me know it's best not to mix and match. I'm currently looking for a local dealer to compare to the prices from Spartan.

Another item to think about before making the purchase is to decide if you want polished Aluminum or the Durabright coated wheels. The Durabrights take less maintenance to keep them clean, but they don't have quite the degree of shine as a freshly polished Aluminum wheel. Many would gladly give up the polishing duties though and extra brightness and choose the Durabright coated wheels as they are a LOT less work.

You want wheels that are coated as well as polished - that way they stay polished. Otherwise they will need periodic re-polishing. In the Accuride brand, they call the coating Accushield.

Bob, Don't think so, but I guess it is possible. My coach came with 4 Alcoa's and two steel on the inner duals. I questioned why not use them for all 6. The dealer had CW quote adding two to match the other 4. The price was $5K. The MH has wheels have the Dura-Brite finish.

Must have been some misunderstanding in the quote because $5000 for two wheels doesn't make sense. 22.5" Alcoa wheels sell for $325-$375 each at the online discounters (truck accessory shops). Would have to add shipping and installation, of course. I would think CW would be in the range of $500-$600 per wheel plus labor.

I'm wondering if the studs have to be different length for 2 Alcoa in a dual pair.
From the Alcoa site:
Stud Standout
Stud standout is the length of the stud from the wheel-seating surface (hub or brake drum) that penetrates the wheel and engages the cap nut. Single hub piloted wheels have a minimum stud standout of 38mm (1.5-inches). Dualed hub piloted wheels have a minimum stud standout of 45mm (1.77-inches). Do NOT dual two Alcoa aluminum wheels using stock length studs and hub pilots. An inner steel and an outer aluminum wheel are required for these applications when using stock studs and hub pilots.
I wonder how many motorhomes come from the factory with all alcoa wheels.

Greetings,

I'm not sure where all your pricing is coming from, however I recently purchased a set of (4) Accu-ride aluminum wheels (8.25 x 22.5) from Sterling (which is an authorized Freightliner dealer in Tampa) for under $1200.00 for the set of four. Let me repeat, the price is for the set of four not one wheel. Mounting, balancing and solid valve stems with installation I had done locally in Sarasota for around $200.00 total.

It made my coach look and ride great! I'm still not sure why any coach that sells for over 100k would not have them from the factory. Remember the price I paid was NOT wholesale, trust me Sterling still made money on the transaction!

I paid more for the AMG wheels on my Mercedes Convertible!!

Good Luck

For Jars and the others, I am very happy you got a great deal on your aluminum wheels. Realy, I am. My little ole Monarch came standard with Alcoa's. I only inquired about adding two for the inner wheels or one for a spare. CW probably did misqoute the price. I never took it any further to investigate except to go to the Alcoa site looking for valve extensions (my Monarch came with those as well). But, maybe I still have the CW quote? If I do, I'll post it.

Best of luck to you all in decidng to upgrade your steel wheels!
