Added rear docking lights to my Wayfarer

One of the easier electrical mods. Purchased these chromed LED boat docking lights on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071F5GZGZ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share), mounted on the fiberglass molded body inserts that fit around the rear wheels, and then wired to the the Mercedes Sprinter rear fog lamp wire and ground. It was the grey wire coming from the driver's side rear light harness extension. Tiffin capped it off and left it in a bundle behind the bottom rear cap. Now when I want docking lights I pull my light switch at the dash out to the second click to activate what would have been rear fog lamps in Europe (first click is for front fog lamps that Tiffin did provide with the rig).

Best,
-Mark

Hi Mark,
Can we get a photo of the docking lights to get a better understanding of how they were mounted? I'm still claiming newbie status. Thanks.

Hoping to see how you did it but one or two of these simply tied into the backup lights would do the trick. I would replace the backup bulbs with LEDs to cut the draw down if they weren't already.

Here are a couple of photos of one of the docking lights. Hope they help. I didn't want to tie into my backup lights as I wanted to control these separately. Since the rear fog lamp wire is in the same loom as rear backup light wire behind the rear cap by the hitch, connecting to one wire vs the other is identical work. Mounted on the sides by the rear tires also lights up the sides as well as behind when the light switch knob is pulled out to the second click. Turn them back off by pushing light knob back in. Tried them out the other night and I can see why Class A rigs have them.

Best,
-Mark
