Adding a new Sat Ant for Direct TV

Looking to add a Direct TV traveler antenna to my Tiffin 37PA. I have the Wineguard dome now but want to get more Sat's with the bigger dish that
collapses on the roof.

Amazon carries them for about $1,600 before installation. Was wondering where you may have purchased one and who did the install?

Thanks

I ordered my from TVForMyRv.com which is a sponsor here. They had a good price and free shipping at the time. i installed it myself. The hardest part is getting the heavy unit on the roof. You will be able to use your coax cables, but it will require running a control line from an inside cabinet to the roof.

See if you have the Traveler wiring package already installed. It will be under an oval cover toward the front of the coach. Many units are ordered with the pre-wire package which makes the installation pretty easy. DH installed our Traveler, and, as Lt. Dan said, the only hard thing is getting it on top of the coach. He installed a pulley in the ceiling of our storage unit, and I helped him guide it up. Two fit and strong people would probably do it without the pulley, but that describes neither of us! I do wonder if you really want to install an expensive system for DirectTV though. It costs money to convert to Dish later if/when DirectTV doesn’t update their satellites.

Direct TV is not going away. I believe only the non HD option. The new Travler looks at the new HD Satellites. I removed my dome system and ran the new cable from the dish thru the ceiling heat ducts to the front cabinets

I bought mine 2 years ago off the internet for $1200. Seems like you should get a better price. I installed it myself and like yourself, had a dome on the roof. There is a baseplate for the dome that I realized after taking it apart made a perfect baseplate for the traveller. I drilled a 1 inch hole going down into the middle front to where my TV goes in the RV. Took me about an hour to do the install. Used Dicor Sealant for the hole and screws and then around the plate of the traveller so water can't get underneath it. A plastic plate comes with, to cover your hole and sealed that in. It is heavy but wasn't that much of a problem. Good luck!

I didn't buy the DTV version, but I did get the Dish version. The least expensive place to get it was PPL in Houston.

I am getting ready to buy one also. Found best price at ALLRV.COM. Signed up for their news letter and get 10 % off first order. Even with shipping around $50 price is best I could find. Hope this helps.

Well, since Direct does not mfg the Travler I assume your implying you want to buy a junk Winegard Travler. Keep your money. In 12 years and maybe a dozen times I was able to use it I am against Winegard anything. Spent 600 dollars in shipping charges to get mine to Winegard and back. First time it was returned as dead as when I sent it in. They reluntually replaced it, which was better, but it also failed eventually.
RFMogul might be a bit more expensive, but they will ship you parts so you can repair it on your roof. If you park in trees either could be rendered useless. A ground based dish tripod assembly is far more useful to me.
